On November 5, 2025, we gathered at the Taichung Headquarters of the Old Five Old Foundation to share a heartwarming session of everyday hands-on creativity alongside our senior friends.

🌾 Handcrafted Leopard Cat Rice Soap: Holding the Story of the Land in Our Hands

Using sustainably farmed Leopard Cat Rice, we melted the soap base and invited the elders to personally blend in fine rice powder, select their favorite essential oils, and gently stir the mixture step by step until the soap bars took shape. In those delicate stirring motions, we witnessed the quiet empowerment of "I can still do this; I am actively participating."

🍘 Puffed Rice Cakes: A Bite of Nostalgia and Shared Joy

Guided by bakery volunteers, everyone collaborated to mix, shape, and package the traditional puffed rice cakes. Along the way, some laughed as they reminisced about their kitchen routines from years past, while others gazed softly at the treats before them, as if reconnecting with cherished memories of home-cooked warmth.

By the end of the day, the entire room was filled with a gentle, comforting aroma—the sweet scent of crisp rice cakes, the subtle fragrance of handcrafted rice soaps, and the enduring sense of peace that naturally settled in through genuine companionship.

Today, we brought home finished creations.

Yet what truly remains in our hearts is the flavor we created together, and the warmth we left behind.
