On this vibrant morning, the joyful melodies of ukuleles and cheerful applause echoed throughout the Fengyuan Lao-Feng-Guang Community Co-Living Center, operated by the Old Five Old Foundation! Amidst the music was the energetic presence of volunteer teams from both TSH Biopharm and Chuang-Yi Biotech.
TSH Biopharm has long been dedicated to advancing ESG social inclusion, marking its fourth year of partnership with the Old Five Old Foundation. On this special day, equipped with ukuleles and boundless enthusiasm, our volunteers visited the Taichung Fengyuan Day Care Center. Beyond bringing vitality to the seniors, our volunteers served as "Family for a Day" for specialized care cases, fulfilling cherished yet modest wishes through authentic compassion.
Highlights of the Event
🎶 Ukulele Strumming & Singing × Reablement Exercise Sessions
On the first floor of the day care center, volunteers accompanied senior residents with mild cognitive impairment—whose enthusiasm remained completely undiminished—in targeted reablement mobility exercises. Strumming their ukuleles, the volunteers led everyone in heartfelt sing-alongs of timeless classics:
- The Timeless Classic "Give Me a Kiss" (給我一個吻): Prompting the seniors to clap and sway along to the rhythm, filling the hall with continuous laughter!
- The Energetic Hit "Blooming Hearts" (心花開): Radiating lively energy that touched everyone present, leaving the seniors smiling as brightly as blooming flowers!
🎂 "Family for a Day" Dream-Fulfillment Birthday Celebrations: Building Heartfelt Bonds
Beyond day care center companionship, social workers from the Old Five Old Foundation identified through routine home visits that several specialized care recipients had long been unable to celebrate their birthdays due to intensive caregiving burdens:
- Spinal Cord Injury Recipient: Where caregivers have endured immense physical and emotional strain for years, quietly longing for a simple, heartwarming birthday celebration.
- Mental Health Condition Recipient: Where illness had severely restricted social interactions, leaving a deep, unspoken yearning to share birthday joy with others.
Behind these seemingly modest wishes lay a profound human desire to feel valued and experience a true sense of belonging. Today, volunteers from TSH Biopharm and Chuang-Yi Biotech stepped in as "Family for a Day" to sing the "Happy Birthday" song, deliver heartfelt blessings, and offer genuine companionship. Through a slice of cake, a warm greeting, and a reassuring handclasp, they bridged emotional distances and ensured these individuals experienced a birthday free from loneliness.
