Planting Leopard Cat Rice: Nurturing Ecological Restoration from Young Roots

This August, TSH Biopharm headed to Tongxiao to plant rice seedlings!

We invited our partners and senior friends from the Old Five Old Foundation—now in our third year of collaboration—to join us. Although the event, originally slated for mid-August, was postponed to the end of the month due to a typhoon, participating through "infill planting" (replanting missing seedlings) didn’t dampen our spirits. The day was filled with the pure joy of farming and the vibrant energy of the land.

In the morning, everyone bent low to press delicate seedlings into the fertile soil, experiencing firsthand both the toil and the quiet fulfillment of farming. In the afternoon, we came together to craft handmade Leopard Cat Rice Soap: grinding the eco-friendly rice into a fine powder and blending it into personalized exfoliating soaps with our preferred natural rice aromas. This hands-on activity was not just a delightful DIY experience; it was a tangible way to weave the practice of habitat-friendly farming into our daily routines.

What made this year truly special was the participation of four young children who joined our TSH Biopharm volunteer team. From colleagues to their families, and from big hands to small, what we planted in the soil went far beyond rice seedlings—it was the living heritage of sustainability passed on to the next generation.
